On Thursday night, Carlos Zetina met a girl named Nicole at a campus bar. He found out that she had come from Holland to study at the University of Calgary, and that Nietzsche was bringing her into a depression. A guy walks a girl and her friend home, and she leaves her phone number.

In the morning Carlos discovered that the number was invalid, so he decided to find another way to contact Nicole. He went through a list of all the University of Calgary's e-mail accounts and selected those with the name Nicole, Nicky, and even Nicollet. To each of them he sent a letter like this:

"Hi. This is a mass email newsletter for all girls named Nicole. If you don't fit that description, ignore the email. If you're the one and you don't want to talk to me, that's okay, too. If your name is Nicole and you're from Holland and you think Nietzsche is depressing, then contact me… I'm Carlos. By the way, the guy who walked you and your friend home last night.".

This letter was sent by 246 University of Calgary girl. And the list included not only female students, but also teachers, and even the deputy dean.

Unfortunately, there wasn't one of the girls… But the Nicolies have gotten to know each other and joined together. They met at the pub and then started their own Facebook group.

"Some guy emailed every Nicole from the University of Calgary to find a girl he met last night. Instead, they organized a girl gang #nicolefromlastnight.".

"To everyone trying to join our Facebook page: what's your name? There's only one right answer here #nicolefromlastnight.".

"This email is the best thing that ever happened to me.".

Carlos' story also ended happily. A community of girls named Nicole helped him find the one. Turns out she gave the wrong number by mistake, and she didn't get the letter at all because she didn't have university mail. Nicole got in touch with Carlos. We hope everything works out for the guys 🙂
